In 1909, our founder, Thurgood Fellowes, was just one of the many hobbyists trying to give mankind the gift of flight. The Wright Brothers famously got there first, ushering in a new age and making the world a smaller place. But Fellowes was right there, too, even if he didn't earn the same mantle of glory. He continued his own efforts, establishing the cornerstone of ARC today: Doing the best work is its own reward.
Fellowes leveraged his mechanical aptitude and intuition into a thriving enterprise. His business grew steadily, weathering markets ups and downs and an increasingly competitive field. His sons took over the business upon his death in 1969, mere days after he witnessed men landing on the moon, enabled by technologies and materials that he himself had helped to build.
Today, ARC is a globe-spanning industrial corporation the likes of which a young Fellowes in his uncle's barn in 1909 could never have even imagined. But his spirit of ingenuity and hard work lives on in every man and woman here at ARC today.
